Government takes first step to domesticize medical cannabis CBD — Ministry of Agriculture launches KRW 5.7 billion project

The government has officially begun domestic production of the medical cannabis ingredient cannabidiol (CBD) active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), which had until now been largely imported. A NeoKenBio-led consortium will carry out the full cultivation, extraction and regulatory approval process under a KRW 5.7 billion program, while HLB Life Sciences R&D will be responsible for preclinical studies, CMC and IND preparation.
